Produce Donation Project

Seeking Volunteers for Weekly Produce Donation Project

Help Us Make a Difference in Our Community!

The Spring Grove Chamber has successfully sponsored the Wednesday night Music & Market event with a a Farmer’s Market, food served by non-profits, and live music. Adding a produce stand to the market will add two things: it will provide produce on a regular basis, and all income will be given to the Little Free Pantry, housed at Trinity.

We’re excited to announce  this ongoing project to collect and distribute homegrown vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers for donation each week. To make this a success, we need your help! Volunteers are needed to donate items. Volunteers are also needed to set up a table and chairs each week, manage the donation basket, and ensure everything is ready by 5:00 pm so donors can drop off their produce. Music & Market runs 5-7pm.

Each week, we’ll need someone to bring bags for packing produce and keep track of donated items. Please also bring a small amount of change for the donation basket (amount to be determined). After all vegetables are gone, you’re welcome to take any leftovers with you or leave them for others at the Trinity food pantry, where remaining produce will be placed at 7pm on Wednesdays. One or two people are needed each week.

If you have suggestions to improve the process, we’d love to hear from you! Your feedback helps us make things run smoothly week after week. There are 16 market Wednesdays beginning May 13 through August 26. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Mary Deters at mehd44@gmail.com or call 507-498-3993 or 507-458-4012. If there is inclement weather, the market will still happen, but will be moved to the front room at the American Legion.

Thank you for supporting this project and helping to share your bounty with our community!
