Bring your furry or feathered friends to worship for a special blessing! Worship will be outside (weather permitting). Please make sure your furry friend is safe and secure. Even big critters are welcome in a trailer.
A Blessing of the Animals service is a joyful way to celebrate God's love and care for all of creation. The Bible reminds us that humans have a unique role as caretakers of the earth, it also tells us that every living creature is precious to God. This special service offers an opportunity to give thanks for the animals that enrich our lives and to pray for their health, safety, and well-being.
The tradition is often connected with St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is celebrated on October 4. St. Francis was known for his deep love of God's creation and his belief that all creatures reflect God's goodness. Churches around the world honor his example by inviting people to bring their pets—or pictures of pets—to receive a blessing.
A Blessing of the Animals is a reminder that God's love extends to all creation and that we are called to care for the world God has entrusted to us.
